There are certain stores where you know you can always find what you are looking for. When it comes to anything kids rooms, playrooms, or reading corners, I can count on The Land of Nod. They offer unique, contemporary decor and furniture that is durable and practical. If you are looking for bright, fun, and functional kids bookcases I have a few recommendations for you!
The Good Read Book Caddy
from The Land of Nod keeps your favorite children’s books in reach and at a height perfect for young children. The angled design allows for books to be displayed either as shown, or with the cover facing forward. The bottom shelf is great for extra storage – I think it would be perfect for those every-night bedtime reads. Available in a variety of color options. And how awesome is the multi-color mosaic rug
? A must have.
Inspired by functional lockers, the On the Grid Bookcase
reminds me of my junior high days. I was so pumped to buy a shelf organizer for my locker, which I was sharing with my best friend because that was the “cool thing” to do! I think this look is perfect for an older child’s room because a) I can see a toddler knocking this over and b) because of the locker room styling. I favor the lime option because it adds a nice pop of color against a neutral wall.
Simple, clean design, and perfect for multi-use all describe the Open Book Bin
shown here in walnut. This piece definitely has a life beyond the children’s room and in addition to children’s book storage could be used in a family room for magazine or book storage.
The Jenny Lind Bookcase
gets 5 stars for style, durability, and all around cuteness! Wouldn’t this look so sweet in a little girl’s nursery with a modern vintage theme?
Playtime meet storytime. Any little girl would be thrilled to have this adorable dollhouse bookcase in their bedroom or playroom!
It’s practical and multi-functional, serving not only as dollhouse, but also a perfect place to store toys and books.
I’m kind of thinking green is the new pink!
Book clutter often prompts creative minds to find ways to easily store and display children’s books. Check out these magnetic bookshelves by Juniper Books. This magnetic shelving system allows for the books to be securely and safely stored above a child’s bed – just within reach for bedtime storytime!
Juniper Books also designs custom book cover collections to to beautify libraries and bookshelves. Who says you can’t judge a book by it’s cover?!
Aren’t these cute? You may have realized by now I kind of have an obsession with all things “owl”. My daughter’s bedroom is a testimonial to this, even though her favorite animals right now are horses. I know, horrible of me right? We recently moved her to a big girl bed. In the kids aisle at Target, I sure struggled with the ever important decision of the Owl Love n Nature Set or Circo Pretty Horses…I’m sure you can guess what I chose!
Back to the bookends…they will go great in my daughter’s owl-themed room. They are perfect for displaying a few of your favorite bedtime reads. Pottery Barn Kids just gets things right!
I’m totally doing this! I have the PERFECT space in our house for this staircase bookshelf project, originally featured on Design Sponge in a sneak peak of the home of designers Halligan Noris Smith & Adam Smith.
I will be posting before and after pics of this along with a “tutorial”. This area of the home is in our living room on the main level – and a perfect spot for the whole family’s book collection. It seems our favorite books always somehow make it downstairs! Stay tuned.
I love decorating spaces for little girls. Everything about this book nook is perfect, bright, cheery, funky, quirky…I could go on. But bottom line it just makes me happy!
I’m most obsessed with this tree bookcase by Nurseryworks
. This is truly the most unique bookshelf I have come across. Perfect for a book nook or reading corner, and a stylish focal point of any children’s room. If you like this entire look – pop on over to Rosenberry Rooms
and have fun shopping!
I love finding unique pieces for children’s rooms – especially when it comes to storing and displaying children’s books. Often times, however, uniqueness = expensive $$$…and that doesn’t always fit in the budget.
This Wagon Bookshelf idea comes from Cory Connor Designs and is perfect for an “Americana-themed” boys room. Guess what??? You don’t have to purchase this online or at a high end retail store. This wagon was only $4 at a garage sale. An old red wagon suddenly becomes an eye-catching book storage solution, and a very quick and easy DIY project!
